Online event about strokes
02/03/2026On Tuesday, 24 February 2026, two experts from the Neurological Clinic and Polyclinic of the University Hospital of Würzburg will provide information on the topic of stroke in a webinar.
In Germany, around 270,000 people suffer a stroke every year. After cardiovascular diseases and cancer, it is the most common cause of death in this country - and also the most common reason for permanent disability in adulthood.
The University Hospital of Würzburg (UKW) is dedicating a free online event to the prevention, detection and treatment of strokes on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Dr. Christian Hametner and Dr. Christoph Vollmuth, both senior physicians at the Neurology Clinic and Polyclinic at the UKW, will share their expert knowledge in a way that is understandable to laypeople.
They will provide answers to questions such as: Can you actively prevent a stroke by adopting the right lifestyle? What relevance do high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiac insufficiency and cardiac arrhythmia have for the risk of stroke? When is it advisable to treat narrowing of the neck vessels? What can be done to prevent a recurrent stroke?
Register for the Zoom webinar
The webinar is part of the "Abendsprechstunde" series of events, which has been organised by the University Hospital together with the Main-Post media group for many years. It runs from 6.00 pm to around 7.30 pm and uses the Zoom platform. An internet connection and a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC are required to take part.
The webinar will be held in German.
