Nuclear Fusion: Panel Discussion Available as Podcast

11/04/2025

At the end of September, a scientific symposium was held at the University of Würzburg on the topic of nuclear fusion. Part of the programme, the interdisciplinary panel discussion, is now available as a podcast.

In the not too distant future, fusion energy is to be utilised economically. However, this endeavour raises a number of fundamental questions: What role can nuclear fusion actually play in the future energy market? Does it complement renewable energies or does it compete with them? And what about the acceptance of nuclear fusion in society?

These and other topics were examined at a scientific symposium with over 100 participants, which was organised by Würzburg professors Markus Ludwigs (Law), Karl Mannheim (Physics) and Kyrill-Alexander Schwarz (Law) at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg in September.

Panel Discussion as Conclusion

One of the highlights of the event was the high-ranking panel discussion. Astrophysicist Professor Harald Lesch, who is well-known from various media, was joined by Professors Thorsten Müller, Karen Pittel, Jan Wörner and Hans-Martin Henning. Professor Ulrich Wagner moderated the discussion.

The panel discussion can now be listened to as a podcast.
