Mind Matters - a Day of Action for Mental Health
09/30/2025The Mental Health Day will take place on 10 October at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. All students and employees of the Würzburg universities are invited.

Mental health concerns us all: This is the motto of the "Mind Matters" information day, which will take place on Friday, 10 October 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Münzstraße campus of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (THWS). Together with the Krisennetzwerk Unterfranken and THWS Student Health Management, the Healthy University of Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) is inviting students and employees to attend.
The co-operation partners want to set an example for more openness, knowledge and prevention in the field of mental health. The aim of the event is to provide information about mental health in a low-threshold and practical way, to make contact points visible and to create space for exchange, reflection and prevention.
Mental Health in Various Facets
The workshops are held on topics that are relevant to everyday (university) life and shed light on mental health from different perspectives. The workshops are held in German.
For example, Professor Frank Como-Zipfel, Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at THWS, and Katharina Eckert from Studierendenwerk Würzburg will be giving talks on mindfulness and stress management.
Anica Pilz, Chair of Psychology V at JMU, will hold a workshop on sleep hygiene. Input on the connection between nutrition and mental health will be provided by Dr Andreas Petko from the JMU Sports Centre. The Krisennetzwerk Unterfranken will provide answers to the questions "How can we recognise mental crises in others and what recommendations are there for dealing with people who are in a mental crisis?
Information Stands and Student Exhibition
There will also be information stands from various regional organisations and initiatives on site. Visitors will be able to easily find out about the counselling centres, support services and projects relating to mental health.
A student exhibition on the topic of "Empower & Prevent" under the direction of Professor Claudia Frey, Dean of the Faculty of Design at THWS, will round off the programme. In the exhibits, THWS students deal with various aspects of mental health.
