Media: JMU Research in the Press

10/21/2025

Whether on television, radio, online or in print - researchers at the University of Würzburg are well represented in the media. Here are some current examples.

Medical diagnostics: In future, flu viruses and other pathogens could be detected quickly and easily using chewing gum or lollipops. A research team led by Professor Lorenz Meinel (Pharmacy) showed how this could work in a publication. The JMU press release on this paper was picked up by numerous German and international media, including Spektrum der Wissenschaft, Newsweek, Bayerischer Rundfunk and Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Competition in the classroom: Constant competitive pressure not only changes young people's behaviour, but also their personality: they become less social. This is what a team led by Professor Fabian Kosse (Economics) found out in a field study. Many editorial offices found this finding worth reporting, including the Süddeutsche Zeitung, dpa, Deutschlandfunk and Bild-Zeitung.
