A varied programme for international guests
10/27/2026Trips to Iphofen and Neustadt an der Aisch, a wine-tasting session and Christmas baking: the meet-up for international academics offers a varied programme.
Visiting academics from other countries often come to the university for just a few weeks or months, though sometimes for longer periods. Among them are, for example, female professors who take up visiting lectureships at JMU, or young researchers working on their doctoral theses. Some bring their families with them.
There is a social club for international guests outside the university. It is organised by a group that puts together a varied programme every semester. This includes social evenings at the university’s guest house near the city canteen, as well as lectures, excursions and other activities.
The first events on the programme
In the 2026/27 winter term, the programme kicks off on Wednesday 11 November with a club evening featuring knitting, crocheting, painting and crafts. On Saturday 21 November, we’ll be heading to Münsterschwarzach Abbey for a guided tour of the monastery with Brother Joseph.
Please spread the word!
The group would appreciate it if you could publicise their programme to as many university departments and Institutes as possible. You can download a PDF document containing the programme here to share, print out or display.
