Human papillomaviruses (HPV) can cause cervical cancer and other tumours. To prevent this, the German Standing Committee on Vaccination recommends that all children aged 9 to 14 be vaccinated against these widespread viruses.

Parents who are still unsure can take part in an online Q&A session organised by the Bavarian Cancer Research Center (BZKF) on Wednesday 8 July 2026, from 7 pm to 8 pm (in German language). Participation is free of charge and no registration is required.

Doctors will explain how the vaccine works and why it is recommended. They will answer questions, which can be submitted in advance and anonymously. Questions can be sent by email to geschaeftsstelle@bzkf.de.

The Q&A session will take place on Zoom – join via this link

CPD for doctors

The HPV vaccination uptake in Germany could be improved, according to the BZKF. It is therefore offering a training session for doctors covering the topics of HPV, HPV vaccination and strategies for improving vaccination uptake.

The session will take place on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm. The speakers come from the fields of virology, paediatrics and adolescent medicine, gynaecology, ENT and dentistry. To register: https://eveeno.com/hpv-fortbildung
