Five years of WueLAB: Shaping sustainability together
10/06/2026Five years of research, teaching and commitment to sustainability: the University of Würzburg’s WueLAB sustainability laboratory is hosting its anniversary celebration on 15 October. Registration is now open.
Since its foundation in 2021, the WueLAB sustainability laboratory has developed into a centre for research, teaching and collective commitment to sustainable development at the University of Würzburg. At the anniversary celebration on Thursday, 15 October 2026, WueLAB will look back on this development whilst also looking ahead.
Focus on sustainability at universities
The event offers an opportunity to discover the diversity of WueLAB’s projects and to discuss future prospects. The programme includes insights into current research projects and transformation experiments, as well as keynote speeches and a panel discussion on the role universities can play in sustainable development.
The keynote speeches by Michaela Fenske (JMU) and Dr. Andrea Sakoparnig (HRK) will focus on the topics of ‘Telling the story of sustainability’ and ‘Sustainability at universities’.
A gallery walk will provide insights into WueLAB’s transformation experiments. Guests will be able to find out about the projects and engage in conversation with those involved.
Explore the campus and discover the projects
A campus tour at Hubland Nord will focus on student projects relating to sustainable development. The tour will demonstrate how sustainability is being practically tested and implemented on campus.
The anniversary celebrations begin at 1.15 pm at the Graduate School of Life Science (GSLS); guests are welcome to arrive from 12.30 pm. Please register in advance to help with planning.
