Equality every day
03/17/2026The University of Würzburg has published its new equal opportunities concept. The aim is to further strengthen equal opportunities for women in research, teaching and studying.
International Women's Day on 8 March drew attention to the concerns and rights of women worldwide. However, the university's commitment to equality does not end with a day of action. With a new Gender Equality Concept 2026-31, it is now presenting a strategic action plan for the next five years to further strengthen equal opportunities for women in research, teaching and studies.
The concept bundles measures to remove structural barriers and promote female academics in all career phases. These include offers to raise gender awareness, programmes for early and mid-career academic qualification phases and measures to improve the compatibility of studies or career and family. JMU is also strengthening its internal and external communication on gender equality issues.
Other priorities include the recruitment and long-term retention of female academics, the expansion of international networks and support for international female students, academics and academic families. The concept is supplemented by measures to prevent and deal with sexual harassment, discrimination and abuse of power.
With the new equal opportunities concept, the university is reaffirming its goal of sustainably anchoring equal opportunities and creating framework conditions that enable all members of the university community to develop their potential in the best possible way.
The concept can be found here (PDF).
