The "Kleeblatt" project is a counselling service at the University Hospital of Würzburg (UKW) initiated by Professor Imad Maatouk, Chair of Integrated Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the Medical Clinic II, and his team. It is aimed at families in which one parent has cancer.

The idea behind it: By providing targeted support, parents can cope better with the illness, which has a positive long-term effect on the mental health of the children. The establishment of the project in 2023 was made possible by a financial start-up grant of 20,000 euros from the Würzburg association "Hilfe im Kampf gegen Krebs".

Private Fundraising Campaign at the Cross-Obstacle Run

"For my friend who has breast cancer and her teenage son, the quick and direct support provided by Kleeblatt was so valuable that I wanted to get involved in this fantastic programme," reports Rebekka Nöth. That's why she and Johanna Oppmann - another friend - used their participation in the Würzburg cross-obstacle race "Rock the Race" in August this year to organise a personal fundraising campaign: for every barrier overcome by the two women, spectators were able to transfer money online to a specially set up account. "We mainly publicised the campaign through our private contacts and were impressed by how many people took part," explains Nöth.

Family Support as a Matter Close to the Heart

A total of 1,770 euros was raised, which Rebekka Nöth and Johanna Oppmann handed over to Gabriele Nelkenstock from "Hilfe im Kampf gegen Krebs" at a meeting at the UKW on 7 October 2025. The family support offered by Kleeblatt is a matter close to the heart of the association's chairwoman.

"I am all the more pleased that this help is so well received by those affected," emphasised Nelkenstock at the donation handover. Imad Maatouk was also delighted: "We are of course very happy about the welcome financial support. However, we are even happier about the positive feedback on our work and the additional 'advertising' for the cloverleaf project by Mrs Nöth and Mrs Oppmann. Thank you very much for that!"
