Diabetes mellitus is one of the major widespread diseases of our time. The disease can occur at any age and affects far more than just blood sugar levels: the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, eyes and nerves can also be affected in the long term. At the same time, diagnostics, therapy and technical support have developed considerably in recent years - many people with diabetes can now be treated much more individually and safely.

An overview of this topic will be provided on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, in a webinar organised by the University Hospital of Würzburg (UKW) together with the Main-Post media group. Dr Ann-Cathrin Koschker and Dr Ulrich Dischinger, both from the Endocrinology and Diabetology Department at the UKW, will be the speakers and contacts at the free "evening consultation".

The experts will answer questions such as: What forms of diabetes mellitus can be distinguished? What is the best way to protect the heart, kidneys and blood vessels? What new medications are available and for whom are they particularly suitable? Apps, glucose sensors and insulin pumps - for whom are these modern technical offerings useful?

Register for the Zoom webinar

The webinar will run from 6.00 pm to around 7.30 pm and will use the Zoom platform. Further information and a registration link can be found at www.ukw.de/selbsthilfe, under "Veranstaltungen".
