Students give psychology high marks

12/16/2025

In a new ranking by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE), the Master's degree course in Psychology performs well. The Psychology Bachelor's programme also recently impressed.

General study situation, support from lecturers, study organisation, range of courses, research and practical orientation, support for studying abroad: Würzburg Master's students of psychology were able to rate their university in these and other categories in the latest CHE ranking.

The grades were awarded on a star scale, from 1 (poor) to 5 (very good). In all ten categories surveyed, students gave the Psychology Master's programme high ratings of between 3.7 and 4.2. 4.0 was given five times, three ratings were higher and two were just below. A total of 92 students took part in the ranking.

It was only in May 2025 that Würzburg's bachelor's students also gave psychology a good rating in the CHE ranking.

Good results for other subjects too

The CHE ranking of Master's degree programmes in Germany has been published since 2015, with the organisers taking turns to focus on different subjects. In addition to psychology, in December 2025 these were civil and environmental engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, materials and process engineering.

In previous CHE rankings, the JMU departments of biochemistry, biology, chemistry, geography, computer science, mathematics, pharmacy, physics and economics, among others, had received good ratings.
