On Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Pain Medicine (ZiS) at Würzburg University Hospital (UKW) is once again organising a day of action against pain. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., those affected, relatives and interested parties are invited to House A9, Straubmühlweg 2a, for lectures, information stands and discussions with experts.

This year, the campaign day will focus in particular on headaches and migraines - illnesses that affect around 18 million people in Germany alone. Children and young people can also suffer from them. The aim of the event is to provide information about causes, diagnosis and modern treatment options as well as practical help for everyday life.

Lecture programme from 3.15 pm

The programme includes several specialist presentations:

  • 3.15 p.m.: Physiotherapist and sports scientist Stefan Lindner will talk about physiotherapy for headaches.
  • 3.40 pm: Dr Delia Lorenz, specialist in neuropaediatrics, will address the topic of "Headaches in children and adolescents".
  • 16.00: Laughter yoga teacher Tessa Maria Lambrich presents laughter yoga for chronic pain.
  • 17.00: Professor Nurcan Üçeyler, Senior Consultant in Neurology, will give an overview of the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of headaches.

A marketplace with information stands

In addition, many support and therapy services will be presented on a "marketplace" - including psychosomatic medicine, occupational therapy, aromatherapy, painting therapy, palliative medicine, inpatient pain therapy and current clinical and experimental research. Self-help groups for migraine and chronic pain from Würzburg will also be represented. Visitors can also find out about procedures such as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
