The aim of 3MT is to convey research results in a clear, concise and understandable way - a skill that is becoming increasingly important for research careers, in teaching and in science communication. The University of Würzburg has been taking part in the international competition for several years. The contest was originally developed at the University of Queensland and is now held throughout Europe.

"The competition impressively demonstrates how diverse and exciting young research at our university is - and how well it can be communicated to a broad audience," says Dr. Natalie Rauscher, Managing Director of the Graduate Academy. "For the audience, the contest on March 6 is an opportunity to get to know very different research topics in a short space of time."

In preparation for the Würzburg 3MT contest, the speakers took part in two workshops in which they developed their presentations step by step. The best contribution will be awarded a prize donated by Unibund and will be submitted to the European 3MT competition, which is organised by the Coimbra Group, a network of 42 European universities.

The 3MT Würzburg Edition 2026 will take place on Friday, 6 March 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Graduate Schools building at Hubland Nord (Beatrice-Edgell-Weg 21). The event will be held in English and is open to the public. There is no need to register in advance - everyone is welcome to attend.
