In the winter semester 2000/2001, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) launched one of the first Bachelor's programmes as part of the Bologna reform: the Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics. As the first business informatics degree programme at JMU, it has since opened the door to a dynamic, future-oriented discipline for numerous students and has significantly shaped the development of the subject.

The Faculty of Management and Economics would like to celebrate the 25th anniversary: On Thursday, 27 November 2025, it cordially invites all interested parties to the anniversary event in the Audimax of the New University on Sanderring. Registration is not required. The event will be held in German.

A Look at the Programme

The celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with a welcome address by Professor Frédéric Thiesse, Chair of Business Informatics. Professor Doris Fischer, JMU Vice President, and Dean of the Faculty Professor Christoph M. Flath will then address the guests.

This will be followed by several keynote speeches, which will shed light on the development of the Bachelor's degree in Würzburg from different perspectives:

  • Keynote speech by Professor Rainer Thome (former Chair of Business Administration and Information Systems)
  • Lecture by Professor Martin Hepp, University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich
  • Joint keynote speech by the professors of Business Informatics:
Frédéric Thiesse, Axel Winkelmann, Christoph M. Flath and Gunther Gust

Following the lectures, the faculty invites you to a joint discussion in the Lichthof of the New University.
