On 14 January 2026 at 18:15, there will be an online lecture on the topic of "Violence in gender relations – extent, consequences and backgrounds. An analysis critical of power." with Prof Dr Monika Schröttle.

The lecture will summarise scientific findings from 35 years of feminist research into violence that is critical of power. Firstly, the extent and consequences of violence against women will be reflected upon, then the connection between patriarchal structures and the function of violence in gender relations and finally the possibilities for change will be discussed.

About the speaker

Prof Dr Monika Schröttle heads the Institute for Empirical Sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and holds the Research and Observatory on Gender, Violence and Human Rights (FOBES) to promote the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Germany and internationally.

Participation

The lecture will take place online via Zoom and is open to all interested parties.
