Effective communication is of the utmost importance in both our professional and private lives. By presenting ourselves clearly as conversation partners and responding specifically to those we are speaking with, we are better able to act and react in difficult conversations and conflict situations. Communication-enhancing conversational behaviour leads to greater effectiveness, time savings and satisfaction.
Key areas:
- Basic patterns of communication and their effects
- Non-directive conversation techniques – active listening
- Guiding the conversation through questions
- Dealing with difficult conversational situations and ‘emotional’ participants
- Recognising typical forms of disruption in conversation
- Non-confrontational phrasing
- Saying ‘no’
- Presenting arguments
- Small talk / joining a conversation / ending a conversation
- Analysis of personal communication behaviour
Numerous participant-centred exercises in pairs and in group settings, with feedback.
