On 21 January 2026 at 18:15, there will be an online lecture on the topic "Right-wing authoritarian politics as violent destruction of life and the world. Feminist perspectives on current authoritarianisation and fascisation processes" with Prof Dr Gundula Ludwig.
The lecture analyses current right-wing authoritarian politics as processes of violent destruction of life and the world. Based on social-theoretical, feminist-intersectional perspectives, it will be argued that current processes of authoritarianisation and fascisation are not to be understood solely as institutional shifts, but as comprehensive attacks on social reproduction relations, bodies, relationships and livelihoods. The right-wing authoritarian hegemony project operates via the actualisation of gendered, colonial and capitalist forms of violence, which it simultaneously disguises by recourse to a supposedly "natural" political order.
In a first step, the lecture will therefore explain why attacks on feminist, queer and trans* politics and ways of life are so central to current processes of authoritarianisation and fascisation and how a violent reference to the world unfolds within them. In a second step, the question of how these right-wing authoritarian policies of violence can be countered by emancipatory policies of care will be discussed from a feminist perspective.
Participation
The lecture will take place online via Zoom and is open to all interested parties.
