Klaus Baumann, born in 1968 and a lawyer, has been employed at the university since 1996. He initially worked as a personnel lawyer for 10 years, most recently from 2004 to 2006 as head of the Legal and Policy Affairs Unit in the Human Resources Department. In 2006, he moved within the administration to the Legal and Elections Office, which he has headed since 2013.
In addition to these activities, Klaus Baumann was a part-time lecturer in law at the vocational school for nursing for 14 years and was responsible for organizing the Children's University between 2004 and 2012. Until his appointment as Vice Chancellor, he was a long-standing member of the Senate and the University Council as well as the University Election Committee.

- Legal advice for Unit A 1 (Planning and Reporting), Department 2 (Student Service Center), and special functions and services (in particular the Office of the Women's Representative, Family Services, KIS, etc.)
- Support for the “audit familiengerechte hochschule” (family-friendly university audit) project
