SCIENTIA Next
Early career guidance. Shaping your career with confidence.
SCIENTIA Next is a one-year career programme for FLINTA* students from all disciplines who wish to start thinking about their professional future at an early stage – particularly FLINTA* students who are considering a research career or a PhD.
Who is it for?
The programme is aimed at FLINTA students* – women, lesbians, inter*, non-binary, trans* and agender – from all disciplines. It is particularly aimed at student assistants and Master’s students interested in pursuing a PhD.
Workshops
- Empowerment & Dealing with Biases: Recognising and reflecting on gender-specific prejudices and building self-confidence.
- Positioning Yourself in Spheres of Influence: Developing strategies to position yourself visibly and effectively in academic and professional decision-making forums.
- Public Speaking & Professional Presence: Communicating persuasively and enhancing one’s presence.
- Gender equality in academia: Reflecting on structures, identifying barriers and actively contributing to change.
Networking
Planned events for exchange and networking with peers, female academics and alumnae.
Mentoring
2–3 individual career consultations per year provide an opportunity to discuss personal questions, seek guidance and explore future prospects.
Certificate
Upon successful completion of all programme components, a certificate from the Gender Equality Academy will be awarded.

To apply, please submit a fully completed application form with a recommendation from a professor, a lecturer or the faculty women’s representative.
Application deadline: 15 November 2026

Allocation of Places
Places are allocated to the faculties according to a cascade model. Faculties with a lower proportion of women among PhD graduates are allocated a higher quota of places.
