WÜkit - Podcast: Family-friendly Leadership
Welcome to our new WÜkit podcast! Episode 1: Prof. Dr. Matthias Bode
In our first episode, our guest is Prof. Dr. Matthias Bode. In his position as Vice President, he is responsible for the portfolio of “innovation and knowledge transfer” and has additionally been holding the Chair of Experimental Physics II since July 2010. Prof. Dr. Bode will give us exciting insights into how he creates a family-friendly work environment in his day-to-day work and research and what is particularly important to him. Enjoy!

Episode 2: Prof. Dr. Helga Stopper
In this episode, we are joined by Prof. Dr Helga Stopper, who currently holds the role of University Women’s Representative. She leads a working group at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology focusing on genetic toxicology. As University Women’s Representative, she takes a particular interest in issues of equality and family-friendly policies. Professor Dr Stopper is also committed to introducing further diversity projects into university life. In the podcast, she discusses the issue surrounding the Part-Time Fixed-Term Employment Act and the need for more permanent positions at the university.

Episode 3: Prof. Dr. Brigitte Burrichter
The guest on this episode of “Family-Friendly Leadership” is Prof. Dr. Brigitte Burrichter. She is a senior professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at the Institute of Modern Languages and she served as the university’s women’s representative from 2021 to 2023. Prof. Dr. Burrichter explains the challenges managers face when it comes to family-friendly working conditions and how the Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act affects early-career researchers.
