University Women's Representative

Our Goals

The University Women's Representative (UFB) is the point of contact for all students and academics at JMU and advises on issues relating to gender equality in academia. She is in charge of career support programs, offers various counseling services and events, and raises awareness of issues such as sexual harassment and discrimination.

Latest News

To mark International Women’s Day, the UFB hosted a joint lunch for a critical and constructive dialogue. A diverse group of people from academia, administration, and the student body came together and exchanged ideas about equality in general—and in academia in particular—across all generations.

One thing was clear: there is still much to be done. Despite past achievements and formal gender equality, the glass ceiling, the reproduction of gender stereotypes, and other injustices remain a reality for many people who identify as female or have been socialized as such in the academic field.

What we at the UFB are focussing on as a result: training opportunities, raising awareness, and creating spaces for interaction and exchange.
