International Science Community Meeting

Datum: 02.07.2026, 18:00 Uhr

The International Science Community Meeting invites doctoral researchers, postdocs, professors, and university staff—both long-term and visiting—to an evening dedicated to internationalisation, interdisciplinary exchange, and professional networking.

The Event

The evening opens with a welcome from Prof. Dr. Doris Fischer, Vice-President for Internationalisation and Alumni, who will share the university’s latest visions for global engagement.

Following the introduction, we are honored to host Prof. Dr. Michaela Fenske (Chair of European Ethnology/Cultural Analysis) for an insightful impulse lecture:

Planting Future: Multispecies Gardening in the Anthropocene

VW Research Group

Gardens are exemplary arenas to experience the effects of todays’ polycrisis. At the same time gardens are spaces for learning transformation by small scale activities that add up to produce major effects. The inevitable transformation asks for new plants, new fruits, and new practices, as well as for new attitudes, ethics, and aesthetics. The lecture will introduce the topics, perspectives, and (preliminary) insights of the research group on multispecies gardening conducted at the chair of European Ethnology/Cultural Analysis.

Networking & Exchange

At the heart of this gathering is the opportunity to build bridges across disciplines and borders. In a relaxed summer atmosphere, guests can enjoy refreshments and light snacks while meeting peers, sharing creative solutions, and forging new synergies within our international community.

Event-Location: Schelling-Forum, Kliinikstraße 3, 97074 Würzburg
