Research Building
In line with its concept as an internationally visible space for reflection and collaboration for the further development of philology in the age of digitalisation and globalisation, the ZPD is a central academic institution at JMU. It is the first building block of a new humanities centre at the university, which is to be created on the North Campus. Various chairs and research projects are located in the new centre building in order to bundle the knowledge and expertise of various humanities and computer science research and specialist fields in a single physical location.
Construction Progress
The design and building concept for the new centre were created by the renowned Stuttgart-based architectural firm Auer-Weber, which was awarded 1st place by a jury in June 2018 following the conclusion of the architectural competition.
In a short film, the Würzburg State Building Authority documents the current construction progress in June 2021. The virtual tour offers insights into the work on the construction site on the one hand and, on the other, looks ahead to future work in the research facility through the research projects already based at the centre.
