This seminar explores teaching in international and diverse classrooms, highlighting the potential that diversity offers for enriching learning experiences. Participants reflect on their own assumptions and biases, discuss obstacles and benefits of teaching in an international context and explore ways to adapt their teaching methods to better meet diverse student needs.
Topics:
- Internationalisation in academic teaching
- Diversity and inclusion in higher education
- Implicit bias and stereotype threat
Methodology: The seminar combines short theoretical inputs with interactive elements. Participants engage in group work, case studies, personal reflection and discussions.
Key Takeaways for Your Teaching Practice: A sharper awareness of how diversity shapes the learning environment; the unconscious assumptions I bring into my teaching; and the ways I can adapt my content, methods, and interactions to foster more inclusive and effective learning experiences in international settings.
