All the world’s a stage: Roles and identity in human interaction

All the world’s a stage: Roles and identity in human interaction

Our constant involvement in many different situations and with a wide range of people from different cultures requires us to choose from and to skilfully perform a wide repertoire of behaviours. Does this mean we are guilty of putting on character masks for our different roles in life? Do the roles we play emerge out of our identity or do they emerge in response to our interaction with other people? Does our identity shape our actions or is our identity shaped by our interactions? These are the questions we will explore actively in this workshop mixing role theory with highly interactive training techniques derived from theatre and psychodrama.
