Exam crediting
Sometimes it makes sense to make adjustments to your subject combination during your studies - for example, because your own interests have changed or because you have a better understanding of the structure or focus of your subjects. On this page, you can find out more about the process and the formal steps required to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
This applies to the following scenarios, for example:
- You change the weighting of the subjects in your subject combination - e.g. from major/minor to two majors or to minor/major.
- You change one of your subjects - whether you change to DH or whether you change the other subject.
- You change from another university to us.
Technically, this is all a change of degree programme. The formal process consists of two parts:
- You apply for the change of degree programme via WueStudy. Details can be found here at the Examination Office.
- You apply for the credits you have already achieved to be transferred to the new degree programme. This is what this is about.
Please note:
- Even if the change only affects one subject, you must have all your achievements in both subjects recognised again!
Example: You want to change from Digital Humanities (major) / Classical Archaeology (minor) to Digital Humanities (major) / Near Eastern Archaeology (minor). Then you must:- have all your previous achievements in DH recognised by us
- in the case of Near Eastern Archaeology, have any credits you have completed in Classical Archaeology that are also suitable for Near Eastern Archaeology recognised.
- Please note that an application for recognition of credits from previous degree programmes may only be submitted once, within the first semester of the new degree programme at JMU (ASPO/LASPO 2015, § 18 para. 4).
- After DH, you can only change to the winter semester.
- Recognition of credits is only possible from 30 ECTS.
Procedure
- Read the general information from the Examinations Office on the credit transfer procedure here.
- Generate a transcript of your passed modules/examinations from WueStudy.
- Please complete the following forms as far aspossible.
- Contact the Student Advisory Service for your subjects with the transcript and forms.
- For DH this means: send them to: dh-anrechnung@uni-wuerzburg.de, make an appointment if necessary. If you are switching from an examination regulations version prior to 2024, please also find out which courses (from which year) the examinations are based on, especially for the elective and programming courses.
- If you already have a form with examination credits from the other major or minor subject, please also send this to determine the upgrade.
- If you have the credits from both subjects and the semester classification together, please send the complete application to the Examinations Office.
Please note that an application for recognition of achievements from previous degree programmes may only be submitted once, within the first semester of the new degree programme at JMU (ASPO/LASPO 2015, § 18 para. 4).
