This self-study course explores the concept of challenge-driven learning. In CDL, students work in teams on complex real-world challenges of social relevance, thereby contributing to the solution of social problems. Through this solution-oriented work in mostly heterogeneous teams, students can also acquire practical skills for their future careers. Hence, challenge-driven learning provides two ways of contributing to a sustainable future.
In this course, we discuss arguments for implementing challenge-driven learning in university courses, present criteria for suitable challenges, and address course planning. To complete the course, you may choose between two assignments.
IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL
- reflect on the social added value of implementing challenge-driven learning in your courses,
- formulate your own challenges for challenge-driven learning,
- and learn how to conduct your own course using this approach.
