Project 6
Determining the role of sphingomyelinases in S. aureus phagocytosis
Martin Fraunholz, Christian Stigloher
Staphylococcus aureus is an important pathogen, which also can be internalized by eukaryotic cells.
We will investigate the involvement of host sphingolipids in S. aureus uptake by mammalian cells
and the visualize S. aureus virulence in a C. elegans infection model by correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) and electron tomography (ET).
