Men's Health Initiative
The "Men's Health Initiative" is an offer from the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Health. The website is intended to encourage men to take advantage of regular check-ups. In Bavaria, the life expectancy of men is five years less than that of women. On average, men live to be 77.9 years old, women around 82.9 years. This is also due to the fact that only around 24 per cent of men, but around 60 per cent of women, take advantage of the extensive range of preventive check-ups on offer, according to former Bavarian Health Minister Dr Marcel Huber. Men's health portal
The men's health portal of the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) was developed to provide men with serious and professionally neutral information on health topics. The website provides information on healthy behaviour, such as exercise, stress management, individual illnesses and prevention options. Men on the move! Effects of exercise on the mental health of men
The brochure published by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) aims to provide an insight into the diversity of sport and exercise. According to Prof Dr Ingo Froböse from the German Sport University Cologne, who wrote the brochure on behalf of the BMG, men are often primarily performance and competition-oriented. For this reason, the brochure focuses primarily on everyday exercise options and experience-orientated sports in order to make this clear: Not "a lot helps a lot" but "regular helps a lot"!
