Certificate ESD
Please note that this offer is only available in German.
Whether you are considering redesigning courses on sustainability aspects from your disciplinary perspective, already offer teaching in the field of socio-ecological transformation, or have not yet engaged with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in your educational work – with the certificate programme Higher Education for Sustainable Development (HESD), we aim to support you in:
- gaining a scientific understanding of the concept of ESD,
- reflecting on the challenges of implementing ESD at universities,
- deepening your knowledge of the goals of sustainable development, and
- experimenting with teaching and learning methods that encourage students to adopt critically reflective mindsets and research-oriented actions.
The interdisciplinary and collegial exchange within the programme offers you the opportunity to network with other educators and collaboratively develop and implement innovative solutions and well-designed best-practice examples at the interface between research and teaching.
Structure of the Certificate Programme
The programme is divided into four modules, each covering different but complementary focus areas.
Target Group: This programme is aimed at all teaching staff at the University of Würzburg who are actively engaged in teaching during at least one semester of the programme period to implement the teaching project.
All information about the certificate programme is also available in a consolidated form on our poster for download.
Event Programme & Registration
The flexible structure of the programme allows you to tailor it to your individual needs and time constraints. You can complete the courses in different time periods and sequences, so that even with a busy schedule, you have the opportunity to actively participate in the programme.
Please select the thematic certificate "Higher Education for Sustainable Development" in the registration form and, if applicable, the first courses (from Module I) you wish to register for. We recommend completing the programme within three semesters. However, it is possible to customise the schedule and complete the modules at your own pace, meaning there is no fixed time requirement.
Courses from Module I naturally also count towards the basic and advanced levels of the certificate "University Teaching". Additionally, the implementation of the teaching project can be credited towards the advanced certificate level.
