Seminar description

The workshop aims to enable participants to develop a “story” about their research topic and to tell it in a clear and inspiring way. Storytelling is a skill that can be applied both within and outside of science. The dialogue-oriented workshop will introduce the creative technique of storytelling and, using inspiring examples, present a variety of tools for “telling” one's own research and apply it in interactive exercises. Storytelling methods are presented, and possible areas of application are identified. Challenges, advantages, and disadvantages are also discussed. In addition to storytelling, a selection of dialogue-oriented formats will be presented that can be used to inspire and engage different stakeholders and target groups for your own research and innovation topics.

Topics covered in the workshop include:

  • Basics of storytelling for research
  • Tools and examples for creating your own story
  • Interactive exercises to practice methods
  • Areas of application in and beyond science
  • Pros, cons, and challenges of storytelling
  • Dialogue formats to engage stakeholders

Learning outcomes - Participants will learn to…

  • Tell their research story clearly and inspiringly
  • Apply storytelling methods in different contexts
  • Use dialogue formats to reach diverse audiences
