Goals of Transformation Experiments

Socio-Ecological Transformation of Society

Transformation experiments aim to promote or contribute to a socio-ecological transformation of society in the context of sustainable development. They are characterised by their methods of collaborative research, bringing together the knowledge of a wide range of scientific disciplines, university administration and societal actors, and testing the possibilities of recognising and involving members of the scientific staff, students as well as the administration of the university in the sense of a Whole Institution Approach. An essential approach is to closely link science and practice in transdisciplinary settings and transformative processes.

Transformation Experiments for Cultural Change

Transformation experiments are open to a wide variety of approaches and require creativity. They aim to develop new tools for collaborative scientific work and promote cultural change at the university and in society. Science or the researchers enter into processes of change themselves or are involved in them. Meanwhile, practitioners set topics and actively participate in research, so that at best both actors benefit from the results. The implementation of transformation experiments in the WueLAB can be applied for by all members of the university.
