Amidst beautiful weather and with a lot of enthusiasm and dedication, the “Orchard Care” course organised by the Living Campus initiative took place on Saturday, 28 February 2026. Twenty participants – students and staff from the University of Würzburg – gathered at the orchard near the Biozentrum to work together.

From 24 March, the ‘Living Campus’ initiative is inviting all members of the university to enjoy an active lunch break. Every two weeks, a variety of activities will take place in the orchard meadow at the campus Hubland.

In this course, you will learn the theoretical and practical basics of fruit tree care, from planting to pruning. At the same time, you will actively support biodiversity by planting new fruit trees with us and, under the guidance of our expert Krischan Cords, carrying out the necessary maintenance measures on an old, species-rich orchard meadow that cannot survive without care.

Am 13.02.2025 fand der erste Obstbaumschnit-Kurs auf der Streuobstwiese hinter dem Biozentrum statt. Auch das widrige Wetter konnte der Lernbegierde der teilnehmenden Studierenden und Mitarbeitenden der Uni Würzburg nichts anhaben.

Gleich der erste Workshop stimmt das Team des Transformationsexperiments L(i)ebenswerter Campus optimistisch.

Der Schopf-Tintling wurde 2024 von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Mykologie zum "Pilz des Jahres 2024" ernannt. Auch am Campus Hubland begegnet man ihm immer wieder. Warum er auch Spargelpilz oder Tintenpilz genannt wird, erfährt du hier.

Wenn das kein Grund zum Feiern ist: der „Lebendiger Campus“ wurde am 13.11. mit dem Albrecht Fürst zu Castell-Castell-Preis für nachhaltiges Handeln an der Universität Würzburg ausgezeichnet! --- If that's no reason to celebrate: the “Living Campus” was awarded the Albrecht Fürst zu Castell-Castell Prize for sustainable action at the University of Würzburg on November 13!

In Zusammenarbeit mit dem TP 10 des REKLINEU Forschungsverbundes sowie dem WueLAB fragt die diesjährige Sommervorlesung danach, was eine nachhaltige Campusgestaltung bedeuten kann. Zur Abschlussveranstaltung am 02. Juli sind wir vom CampusGarten und der Initiative Lebendiger Campus zu Gast und berichten über unsere Arbeit und Erfahrungen. Seid dabei!
