About us

We have launched the “Living Campus” initiative to systematically record the diversity of animals and plants (including fungi) on our campus, promote diversity, and determine which areas of the campus are particularly important for this purpose.

Planting/ fruit tree pruning course on 28/02/2026

In this course, you will learn the theoretical and practical basics of fruit tree care, from planting to pruning. At the same time, you will actively support biodiversity by planting new fruit trees with us and, under the guidance of our expert Krischan Cords, carrying out the necessary maintenance measures on an old, species-rich orchard meadow that cannot survive without care.

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. If available, please bring gardening gloves and secateurs.

Participation is free of charge and open to all students and employees of the University of Würzburg.

When: Saturday, February 28, 2026, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Orchard meadow at the Biozentrum, University of Würzburg
Meeting point: Seminar room C001 (Chair of Animal Ecology and Tropical Biology), Biocenter, Am Hubland, 97074 Würzburg (location: 49.78035436825928, 9.971376318443944)
Maximum number of participants: 15 people
