Placement test

Which course? Placement test or attendance of preliminary courses at the Language Centre

If you have previous knowledge of a language and have not yet completed a course at the Language Centre, you must take a placement test before registering online. The result of the placement test will tell you which course/level you can attend.

The placement test can only be taken once and is valid for two semesters.
 

German as a Foreign Language

You will receive the link to the placement test after you have pre-registered. Please complete the test on your own and without any help to ensure an accurate assessment. If you receive outside help during the placement test and the test results are compromised, your level cannot be changed.
 

Other languages

You can take the placement tests either on site in the media library (please bring your user name and password with you!) or online. If you would like to take the test online, please use our email form. You will then receive a message with the access information and can take the test from home during the day. Please note that the access code is only valid until the following morning.
The placement tests in French, Italian, Swedish and Spanish are C-tests - information and examples of this test format can be found on the website C-Test - Der Sprachtest. It will take about 30 minutes (also approx. 30 min for English, 40 minutes for Arabic and Turkish).
