CRISPR Conference

07/03/2023

From 27 June to 1 July, the internationally renowned and annual CRISPR Conference was held at the University of Würzburg, jointly organised by HIRI (Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research) and IMIB (Institute of Molecular Infection Research).

The University of Würzburg hosted about 300 participants from all over the world for five days.

Local organisers Cynthia Sharma (IMIB) and Chase Beisel (HIRI) opened the conference, together with organisers Anita Marchfelder (University of Ulm) and Stan Brouns (University of Delft).

The keynote speech, held by Virginijus Šikšnys, professor at Vilnius University in Lithuania, was followed by highly interesting presentations on the exciting topic of CRISPR, the molecular "gene scissors", over the course of several days.

In addition, the conference participants discussed the current state of CRISPR research in the extensive poster programme. In the supporting programme of the event, the participants enjoyed the city of Würzburg and its sights.
