08/08/2023In 1993, the Research Center for Infectious Diseases (ZINF) and the Institute of Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB) were founded. On July 20, both now celebrated their 30th anniversaries.

To mark the occasion, the joint PhD program of ZINF/IMIB and HIRI organized a stimulating Career Symposium.
The symposium started with a lecture by Thorsten Mascher (TU Dresden), who illustratively incorporated his international scientific career into his research talk.
In a subsequent panel discussion, invited ZINF/IMIB alumni reported on their remarkable career paths in research, industry and medicine.
During the extensive and lively discussion, the inquisitive PhD students took the chance to exchange ideas with the invited guests. The symposium was met with a lively and very positive response and showed how essential the scientific stay at IMIB/ZINF was for the successful career of all alumni.
