Based on the model of Constructive Alignment, this course will show you how to develop your teaching in a way that aligns your objectives with those of your students.
As you work through this self-study unit, you will (re)design one of your own courses in line with the principles of Constructive Alignment. To do this, you will first formulate learning objectives. You will then select teaching and learning methods that support students in reaching these objectives. Finally, you will determine forms of assessment that evaluate whether students have achieved the intended learning outcomes.

IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL

  • critically reflect on your own courses and course planning with regard to Constructive Alignment,
  • formulate learning objectives for your courses,
  • assess which teaching and learning methods, as well as forms of assessment, are suitable for achieving and evaluating the defined objectives, and
  • adapt one of your own courses to the principles of Constructive Alignment.
