Specialization Level

Solid Foundations, Flexible Pathways, Individual Focus: Your Specialization Level Certificate in Teaching

The specialization level, restructured in 2025, consists of an elective component (60 CU) and a compulsory component (20 CU). The elective modules can be completed in any order. The compulsory component reflects the content completed during the elective phase and therefore comes at the end of the certificate. The specialization level comprises a total of 200 TU, of which 120 CU are recognised from the advanced level.

Flexible scheduling: Start whenever it suits you: The elective modules can be completed even before obtaining the advanced level certificate. Finish at your own pace: All specialization level modules can also be completed after leaving the university. Modules that require teaching a course do require you to offer a course at a university or higher education institution. In our experience, the specialization level can be completed over the course of two semesters. Of course, we will support you if you wish to complete it more quickly.

Elective component: Focus on your individual interests: Various modules are available in the elective area. The elective component is divided into three categories: #Practice, #Feedback, and #Reflection. To obtain the certificate, you must complete a total of 60 CU within the elective component and include at least one module from each category. Benefit from our expertise: All modules offer opportunities for individual consultation and joint planning.

Compulsory component: After completing the elective modules, you will combine the content from the modules you have completed into a final #Presentation. Showcase your teaching in the best light: You are free to choose the format of your presentation. It may take the form of a PDF text, podcast, video interview or Mahara portfolio. Benefit from additional expertise at the ZBL: The ZBL will support you with the technical implementation. Upon completing the presentation, you will receive your specialization level certificate.

Contact: If you have any questions, feel free to contact Dr Thorsten Aichele at zbl-hochschuldidaktik@uni-wuerzburg.de
