On Thursday, October 29, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Dr. Alexander Soutschek as the guest speaker for the first Dinner Meeting of this semester.

In his talk, entitled "Subjective Costs of Cognition - Neural Mechanisms and Clinical Relevance”, he explored the factors influencing our motivation to engage in cognitively demanding tasks. He provided insights into the roles of the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and the striatum, the neurochemistry of mental fatigue, the role of mental effort in nicotine dependence, and the subjective costs associated with social cognition.

Following the talk and an engaging discussion, we headed to Würzburger Augustiner to enjoy dinner together and continue the conversations in a more informal setting.
