Accommodation
The Siebold-Collegium and its fellows are housed in a newly restored historic building, the so-called Welz-Haus, which was built in the 18th century. The Welz-Haus is situated in a very quiet yet central area of Würzburg (Klinikstraße 6). Its location is ideal to explore the city as many points of interest are within walking distance (e.g. Old Main Bridge, City Hall, historical University buildings including the laboratory of W. C. Röntgen where X-Rays were discovered).
At the Welz-Haus, 20 fully furnished apartments, with a bathroom/shower, of various sizes are available for guests and their families. It is also possible to join two apartments, e.g. for families. Additionally, the Welz-Haus has two accessible, large-sized apartments on the ground floor with disability-friendly bathrooms.
Bookings can be made via the booking portal and are open to anyone interested.
SCIAS subsidies
As a SCIAS guest, you can apply for a grant towards your accommodation costs. For stays of more than three months, there is also the option of being accepted as a SCIAS Fellow. For accepted guests and Fellows, accommodation costs may be covered on a pro rata basis. If you are interested in obtaining subsidies, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.
Further information on the eligibility criteria can be found under For guests and SCIAS Fellows.
Please note that some funding programmes (e.g. Humboldt-Foundation) may exclude you from our subsidies as they provide their own means of accommodation support. If in doubt, please check with your funding programme before applying for a SCIAS grant.
