STADTRADELN 2025 – impressive performance by “D15 Biker”
06/26/2025Team from IMIB, HIRI and RVZ way ahead with 240 kilometers per capita

From May 1st to May 21st, 2025, Würzburg participated once again in the annual STADTRADELN campaign of the “Klima-Bündnis Services”, which is intended to motivate people to ride their bikes instead of using cars and thus make a valuable contribution to climate protection. The goal is to collect as many kilometers as possible in 21 days, promoting sustainable transportation and environmental awareness.
Once again, the “D15 Biker” team of the University of Würzburg delivered great performance: 40 motivated cyclists together collected 9.609 kilometers, which means that each cyclist rode an outstanding average of 240 kilometers, making them the strongest subteam at the University of Würzburg, which could achieve fourth place in the overall Würzburg ranking.
The team essentially consists of members from the Institute of Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB), the Helmholtz-Institute Würzburg (HIRI) and the Rudolf-Virchow-Center (RVZ) and has been participating in the contest for five years now. The team’s name is derived from the building D15 on the Würzburg Medical-Campus, where all three participating institutions are located.
This year’s top performer was Jonathan Scheler (AG Faber), riding an astonishing 1,106 kilometers. This is the best individual performance since the team’s inception and earned him the title “TOP Biker of the Year”, as well as third place within the university. Lina Günter (AG Munschauer) secured second place with an impressive 891 kilometers, followed closely by Tristan Beste (AG Saliba), who achieved a strong 766 kilometers.
A big congratulations to the entire team!
