DECIDE — With the participation of the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology, a new collaborative research center is being launched in Würzburg
11/10/2022It investigates critical decision processes that determine the outcome of human infection. The German Research Foundation announced the establishment of the new SFB on November 25, 2022; it will fund it with 10.7 million euros over the next four years.
The SFB will officially start in January 2023 and will involve a total of 18 Principle Investigators from the IMIB and ZINF.
DECIDE brings together research teams from the JMU, the Würzburg University Hospital and the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) in Würzburg, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Münster.
All involved teams are leaders in infection biology and immunology. JMU and the University Hospital have decades of expertise in both fields. In recent years, this profile has been further sharpened, among other things, by establishing HIRI and the Max Planck research groups for Systems Immunology that are located on the Würzburg medical campus.
