ABOUT US

The JMU Research Academy serves as a hub for all of JMU’s initiatives in the areas of training and development for academic staff and academic career development. Together, we develop a range of courses and advisory services that will help us reach our goal to support all JMU researchers on their personal career paths in academia, industry or society in the best way possible. This process is being coordinated by the Unit A.2 Personal and Professional Development.

Personal and Professional Development

At Personal and Professional Development, we provide physical and virtual spaces that offer opportunities for personal, cooperative and institutional learning that are tailored to the specific needs of our target groups.

We help you develop the skills you need for your workplace, leverage your personal expertise and unlock your potential in order to meet the requirements of the future.

Research Advancement Centre

The Research Advancement Centre develops and implements strategic, capacity-building measures with aimed at promoting excellence in research and provides assistance and advice for researchers preparing project proposals.

University of Würzburg Graduate Schools

Divided into four schools - the Graduate School of Life Sciences, the Graduate School of the Humanities, the Graduate School of Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Law, Economics and Society - the UWGS offer structured doctoral training in a range of disciplines.

ProfiLehre

JMU’s ProfiLehre programme offers a wide range of practice-oriented seminars, workshops and talks that give lecturers the opportunity to enhance their teaching skills.

GEA

Gender Equality Academy

The Gender Equality Academy offers a range of programmes and services that are important for researchers across all career stages. The focus of the Academy is on tailored measures relating to staff development and recruitment that are aimed at increasing the number of female researchers at the University.

Konfliktmanagement

Conflict Management Services

The Conflict Management Service at JMU has been set up in an effort to actively foster a cooperative university culture and to improve cooperation among research, teaching and administrative staff. In addition to conflict management, the Service is also concerned with the active prevention of conflicts.

SFT

Service Centre Research and Technology Transfer

The SFT is your point of contact at JMU for all matters relating to research funding, business formation, patents and technology transfer.

IZKF

Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research (IZKF Würzburg)

The IZKF is the internal research funding instrument of the Faculty of Medicine at JMU. It supports interdisciplinary research projects and the enhancement of the research infrastructure at JMU and fosters the development of early career researchers in medicine.

Alumni Office

The JMU Alumni Office maintains a vibrant network of current and former students and staff members of the University of Würzburg. The approximately 850 members of the JMU Alumni Association enjoy a range of benefits and can also give back to their university.

Schreibzentrum

Writing Centre

The JMU Writing Centre offers a range of services to help students enhance their academic writing skills in German and/or English. It teaches students what they need to know to produce texts that meet general academic standards and provides discipline-specific writing support.

UB

University Library

In addition to providing access to literature, the University Library offers courses, tutorials and other services that help you develop effective information searching skills. Together with researchers and other facilities, it also develops and supports infrastructures for storing, processing and publishing research data.

RZ

Information Technology Centre

The Information Technology Centre is JMU’s central IT service provider. The Centre’s responsibilities fall into four categories: ‘central and decentralised services’, ‘communication systems’, ‘IT support and training, multimedia’ as well as ‘applications and software management’.
