Dr. Barnaby Dye (King’s College London / DGAP Berlin) will speak on 15 June 2026 about the dynamics and trajectories of India–Africa relations in the 21st century. The lecture critically examines whether these relations can be understood as over-hyped, a historic success, or an ambivalent development. Dr. Philipp Gieg (IPS / ACCUW) will deliver the introductory remarks.

From May 23 to 25, 2026, the Africa Competence Center will once again be represented at Europe’s largest and oldest festival for African music and culture – this time in front of City Hall at the Vierröhrenbrunnen. In the University Tent, which has been an integral part of the Africa Festival for more than 15 years, we present a selection of the many Africa-related research projects at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg.

“#pamojart - researching together” nennen Mariam Gichan und Ramona Seitz ihre gemeinsame Recherche zu kolonialem Erbe von Tansania und Deutschland. Am 14. Oktober um 16:30 Uhr werden die beiden freien Journalist:innen im Mwanza-Saal des Würzburger Rathauses und online via Zoom von dieser gemeinsamen Recherche berichten, für die sie seit zwei Jahren in Tansania und in Deutschland unterwegs sind.
