The IRTG 2991 hybrid scientific workshop was successfully held on January 22–23, 2026, at IISER Thiruvananthapuram with online participation from JMU. The workshop featured Prof. Ruchi Anand (Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay) as the distinguished guest speaker.
Prof. Anand delivered two insightful lectures on Thursday, highlighting Cryo-Electron Microscopy and its applications in structural biology. The scientific lecture, “Cryo-EM as a Tool to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance,” discussed the role of Cryo-electron microscopy in understanding molecular mechanisms underlying antimicrobial resistance. This was followed by the second lecture, “Photography at the Atomic Level: From Protein Crystallography to Cryo-EM,” which traced the evolution of structural biology techniques and their transformative impact on biomolecular research.

On Friday, January 23, 2026, the workshop continued with PhD student presentations, during which doctoral researchers, Aiswarya P.U., Theertha K. P. , Ajay Sekhar P. M., Gokulnath R., from IISER Thiruvananthapuram presented their ongoing research and engaged in active scientific discussions.
