IRTG 2991 – Workshop on “Digital Chemistry” with Guest Visit of Prof. Stefan Bräse

During his lecture “Digital Chemistry – A trip to the blue” Prof. Bräse introduced the broad field of Digital Chemistry which encompasses everything that combines chemistry with computer assistance like theoretical chemistry, lab automation, AI, digital data bases/repositories and also electronic lab notebooks (ELNs). He merged this with a presentation of his research on new blue OLED materials based on thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in cyclophane systems.

Prof. Bräse’s talk was followed by presentations of IRTG2991 PhD students and postdocs: Lasse Kreimendahl (Mitric group), Dr. Liangxuan Wang (Würthner group), and Lena Moll (Lambert group) presented their research projects to the IRTG members at JMU and IISER TVM. Lilith Wohlfahrt (Fischer group) chaired the session.

On the second day an informative hands-on workshop on Chemotion ELN and its features, extensions and applications was provided by Dr. Nicole Jung and Jana Alpin. It highlighted the advantages of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data and the important and powerful role ELNs play in this regard.
