Congratulation to Merle Röhr

13.11.2025

With her lecture on Exploring Functional Landscapes in Molecular Aggregates: Theoretical Methods for Electronic Structure and Property-Driven Design (GDCh Kolloquium Unterfranken, 13.11.2025) CNC Junior Group Leader Dr. Merle Röhr successfully finished her habilitation.

Merle Röhr with her habilitation mentors Tobias Hertel and Frank Würthner and the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Prof. Holger Helten.

We congratulate Merle Röhr for being the first theoretical chemist at the University of Würzburg finishing a habilitation and being promoted to Privatdozent. Starting her independent career at the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry in 2019, she succeeded in the rather short time of less than five years to establish new theoretical methods for the exploration of excited state properties of dye aggregates by making use of metadynamics and generative models. Thereby she was able to identify particularly interesting supramolecular packing arrangements – functional landscapes - for dyes to accomplish properties such as singlet fission.
