Research Training Group has started

09.06.2026

With a first joint welcome meeting, the new Research Training Group “The Experience of Stories in the Digital Age (TESDA)” has officially started.

Eleven doctoral students from different countries began their work and form the first cohort of the program funded by the German Research Foundation.

TEDSA is dedicated to the question of how digital technologies are changing the perception and processing of stories. In an increasingly digitally shaped world - from social media to virtual realities to AI-based forms of communication - new possibilities for storytelling arise, but at the same time, new challenges also emerge. The doctoral candidates work within a structured research and training program that brings together various disciplines and three research areas:

  • Immersive virtual reality
  • New (para-)social encounters
  • Epistemic challenges

With the start of the Research Training Group, a five-year funding phase begins, during which a total of 21 junior researchers will complete their doctorates within the framework of TESDA. The first cohort now lays the foundation for an international and interdisciplinary research environment that opens an innovative perspective on storytelling in the digital age.
