Early studies

Events

As an early student, you will take part in regular courses in consultation with your subject mentor. As a rule, you will attend 2-6 SWS (semester hours per week, comparable to lessons at school) per semester and spend one day per week at JMU instead of at school. The school will release you from regular school lessons to an appropriate extent. Early study is not possible without the agreement of your school management and without your willingness to make up the lost lessons independently.

When selecting courses, subject-related aspects and the individual prior knowledge of the early students take centre stage. Time aspects are taken into account wherever possible. However, it must be clear that neither JMU nor the school have any room for manoeuvre when it comes to adjusting timetables to accommodate early studies.

We have summarised the experiences of the subject mentors by subject. You should always bear these in mind when making your application.

Depending on the arrangement, you may be sitting in a large lecture theatre with 200 other students, a medium-sized lecture, a small practice group or a seminar with an intensive working atmosphere - a real study atmosphere!
